Cinematic aqua fitness comes to swimming pools

Hydrohex, a virtual workout platform for swimming pools, spas and leisure centres, is releasing a new collection of classes into its library. There are four main areas, cardio, power, move and beat, and each full class lasts 45 minutes. The programmes benefit from cinematic-quality filming – which include Hydrohex’s signature split views from above and below the surface to make body moves easy to follow – and accompanying music for motivation.

Operators can set up the class poolside using a screen (TV, LED or projector) and audio equipment, but instructors can also integrate Hydrohex in their sessions, which is a hybrid method the company says is popular with aqua coaches.

"Hydrohex fitness classes are a new and exciting concept of virtual aqua fitness, which offer new training opportunities to demographics which have previously not been catered to in the pool,” said Tommi Wallenius, co-founder and CEO. “Our vision is to bring the benefits of digitalisation to swimming pools by providing engaging aquatic experiences to end users and convenient ways for pool managers to deliver first rate experiences and services any time, in any pool."

A subscription costs £499 per month, along with £75 per month for the computer unit that is required to operate the system, as well as an onboarding fee of £1,500. The team provides support to help operators launch the service, which is available throughout the first year. The service is available in Finland, Sweden, the UK and some areas in Germany.
